The state page warns that law can cause release types and dates to differ from the website. Jail credit, consecutive sentences, mandatory terms, forfeited earned time, detainers, classification, and ERS residence approval can all affect the practical date. State the MDOC number and the record sought. A request for an existing discharge certificate, movement entry, or time record is more precise than asking staff to decide whether someone is free. If another custodian appears, request the destination and continue with that agency.
Holmes/Humphreys Regional Facility Identity
The institution is physically in Lexington, Holmes County, not in Humphreys County. MDOC explains that Mississippi regional facilities house state inmates under agreements and operate through the respective sheriff with MDOC oversight. The March 2026 PREA audit identifies the Holmes County Sheriff's Department as operator and Barry Rule as warden. It describes minimum- and medium-custody adult men and reports no youthful inmates.
Those sourced figures describe facility scale. They are not release counts, annual admissions, or turnover. The audit does not provide a release total. Its most useful public role is to resolve identity and operator confusion that can send a search toward the wrong county jail.

Correct Holmes/Humphreys Release Search
Online pages sometimes shorten the name to “Humphreys County Jail.” That shortcut merges two different institutions. The local Humphreys County Jail release record belongs to the Humphreys County Sheriff's Office in Belzoni. The regional facility belongs at a Lexington address, is operated by the Holmes County Sheriff's Department, and houses state inmates under MDOC oversight.

A county roster disappearance after felony sentencing may mean entry into state custody. Search MDOC and compare Location. If the exact handoff matters, request the Humphreys sheriff's transfer entry as well. It may show release to MDOC custody, which should never be shortened to an unqualified release.

Holmes/Humphreys Release Date Limits
Mississippi labels the public projection Tentative Release Date. Under §47-5-138, qualifying earned time has a 15-percent cap that supports an 85-percent shorthand for many sentences, but §47-5-139 exclusions, jail credit, forfeiture, consecutive terms, detainers, and residence approval can change the practical result. Earned time does not reduce the statutory parole-eligibility floor.
MDOC's frequently asked questions advise checking an exact date with the case manager and explain that release processing can take 30 to 45 days. Parole and ERS dates are not guarantees. The inmate must receive a discharge certificate for completion. A projected date, a Board decision, a Location Change Date, and a discharge date are different fields and should remain separately labeled.
Question: What if the tentative date is already past? Check current Location, contact MDOC Records, and ask Community Corrections whether a public active assignment exists. A detainer or transfer can prevent community return even after the forecast date.
Holmes/Humphreys Transfer Destinations
An MDOC Location change can identify another state institution. A movement to federal or immigration custody requires a different locator. BOP's public locator addresses sentenced federal custody. ICE ODLS covers current detention and releases within its limited recent window. Federal pretrial status belongs with the court docket and U.S. Marshals route. None of those systems can answer for the others.
